Reservation Policy

SC/ ST Candidates

Vide Govt. order No. 905-TW/EC dated 12th Sept., 1995 and EDN No.437/2014 dated 2nd April, 2014. 22% and 6% of total number of seats in each subject shall be reserved for SC and ST candidates respectively.
SC/ST/ candidates, only from West Bengal, are eligible for reservation benefits.
If adequate number of ST candidates is not available, seats should be filled up by SC candidates and vice versa.
An SC/ST candidate short listed for admission should have marks in the qualifying examination which is not lower by more than 25% of the marks obtained by the last candidate short listed for admission in the merit list in the general category.
A candidate of the reserved category, who may be admitted in the general merit list on the basis of his/her marks is not to be considered in the reserved category
Each SC/ST candidate should secure the minimum marks criteria that has been prescribed for that subject

From 2014 additional reservations for OBC (A) and OBC (B) categories are being enforced as per rules.
OBC-A/ OBC-B candidates, only from West Bengal, are eligible.

Vide Govt. order No. 2398-A/9R-1A/05 dated 22nd Jun, 2005, 3% of each category of seats in each subject is reserved for candidates with disabilities under section 39 of the act, 1995.

Reservation of seats for Economically Weaker Sections (EWS) will be made as per Government's directive (vide No. 325-PAR(AR)/3P-1/2019 dated 09.07.2019 )
