Department of Zoology
The Department of Zoology is one of the most advanced departments of this college. The erstwhile Biology Department was elevated to an Honours Department only in 1996. But through the untiring effort of its teachers as well as the then Principal, this Department quickly raised its academic standard and facilities, and the Government of West Bengal and the Calcutta University promptly recognized our efforts by their approval for the opening of Post Graduate Course in Zoology in this Department in 2000.The Zoology Department had earned its most prestigious cap till date in 2005 when the DST, Government of India, declared it as a DST-FIST Sponsored Department. The Department received a substantial amount of grant from the DST, DBT (Govt of India), DBT ( Govt. of West Bengal) and UGC for its infrastructure development.
